Must See Events

There is so much to see and do, with several events overlapping, so here are some must-see events that are really going to steal the show.

Opening Concert: This year’s opening night concert features The Fray and Animal Years who are sure to get the party going and set off this convention on Monday, July 22nd.

Meet an Astronaut: Michael Collins and Joe Engle who worked on the Apollo 11 mission are commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the mission that placed the first men on the moon. Michael Collins was a command module pilot for Apollo 11 and is one of the 24 people to have flown to the moon. Collins and Engle will be hosting a program on Friday, July 26th highlighting the millions of man-hours and hundreds of people that made the first moon landing possible.

See Burt Rutan’s Airplanes: Burt Rutan is an aerospace engineer who has designed some of the most innovative and energy efficient aviation designs known to mankind. His aircraft will be on special display throughout the week and Rutan himself will be participating in several forums and presentations throughout the week.

Twilight Flight Fest: Drones aren’t the only thing taking to the sky at night. Be on the lookout for people falling from the sky with the Patriot Parachute Team and Red Bull Air Force Skydivers. This nightly event is sure to amaze onlookers and thrill crowds.

Honestly, every event throughout this entire celebration should be on the list and we could go on forever talking about every awesome workshop, classic movie, and flight demonstration but it may be best to head over to their Schedule of Events and start planning your itinerary.
