Chicago-based Alligator Records artists Tommy Castro & The Painkillers, Toronzo Cannon, Tinsley Ellis, and the Nick Moss Band featuring Dennis Gruenling will perform May 18th and 19th, 2018 at The Oshkosh Grand Opera House!
Whether you’re a longtime fan of blues music or are just getting introduced, you’ll want to attend Alligator Records Blues Weekend. The two-day event provides an opportunity to experience blues from talented musicians who have been playing it for decades. Alligator Records Blues Weekend is a very special event as you don’t often see this many Alligator artists performing together in one weekend.
The event is spread out over Friday and Saturday. Tommy Castro & The Painkillers, with special guest Nick Moss Band, featuring Dennis Gruenling perform Friday night, May 18. Toronzo Cannon and Tinsley Ellis are scheduled for Saturday night. Both shows start at 7:30pm.
While the term “blues” may sound sad, the music produced by these artists is anything but!
Tommy Castro is a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and six-time Blues Music Award-winner. He and his band, The Painkillers, lay down California soul and hard-rocking, good-time songs that fill the floor and raise the roof.
Nick Moss is a a 30-year veteran of the Chicago blues scene. The guitarist, singer, and songwriter who can can play traditional blues with the best. Pair him with Dennis Gruenling, a high-energy, blues harmonica player from New Jersey, and you have all the ingredients you need for a full-throttle show of gut-busting blues.
Contemporary blues artist Toronzo Cannon is one of the most acclaimed next-generation bluesmen. The guitarist, singer/songwriter has presented his hard-rocking original material in major cities all over the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
Tinsley Ellis is a southern blues-rock guitar wizard who made his Alligator Records debut 30 years ago. The raw power of his incendiary style has made him a worldwide blues guitar hero.
The Oshkosh Grand Opera House is a historic venue located in downtown Oshkosh, WI. This classic opera house seats 600 and hosts performances all year ’round.
